Ideally I’d be adding mushrooms, peas, sweetcorn, spinach and onion to this to boost the vegetable content but work around whatever your kids like and you can build up to adding more when they’re ready.
The cheese sauce doesn’t need to be complicated. Add the milk, flour and butter to a pan and just keep whisking…you’ll end up with a thick creamy sauce without the faff. WHISK FAST as it starts to thicken…this is the point when the lumps might appear.
The cornflakes aren’t necessary but add a delicious crunch.
It freezes well, so this is what I serve to my daughter when I’m eating something more adventurous that I like but she doesn’t enjoy so much.
